This is the greenhouse range that's been designed for cropping right the way through the winter months, imagine flowering cyclamen in the depths of winter. A colourful spring display of forget-me-not or polyanthus. Add a little heat and let your imagination run even further. Winter flowering begonias or cinerarias. And over-wintered cuttings ready to bring glowing colour to your flower borders at a fraction of shop prices.
It has full-length glass panels and sloping sides to make the greatest possible use of the low-angled winter sun. It's economical to heat, too, because the Western Red Cedar is a most efficient thermal insulator Not that the Amateur is a 'Wintertime only' greenhouse. In fact it encompasses design features that put most other greenhouses in the shade when it comes to summertime use.
Take the ventilation system for example. Cedar greenhouses have Alton's unique Ventaccess sliding ventilators fitted to alternate bays. These work in conjunction with roof vents to provide though ventilation at all levels in both greenhouse and lean-to.
